A Firm That Knows How to Win. Where Will Its Next Advantage Come From?

CDH's strength comes from the judgment of its lawyers. Across three countries, the firm's leadership also carries responsibility for what those lawyers achieve together. Nosipho Siwisa Damasane has spent her career leading organisations where results depended on cooperation beyond her own authority.

CDH's Chief Operating Officer has a mandate across South Africa, Kenya and Namibia. On an organisation chart, the lines are clear. In practice, a firm-wide decision has to be carried by lawyers with clients to serve, practice leaders with their own responsibilities and teams working in different jurisdictions. Nosipho has led organisations where results depended on people and institutions outside her direct control. She knows how much work follows agreement: establishing responsibility, reconciling competing interests and seeing that commitments become action. The proposed working session starts with one priority CDH selects. Its leaders examine the decisions still to be made, who owns them and what progress should look like. The intended result is a practical decision-to-delivery map, with clear ownership and actions that CDH's leaders can take forward.

About this collection

CDH is already investing in its next stage. In September 2025 the firm substantially strengthened its Namibian practice. From April 2026 its Chief Operating Officer has carried a mandate to oversee operations across South Africa, Kenya and Namibia, to support the continued integration of the firm's African operations and to drive the implementation of its strategic priorities. Alongside this, CDH continues to develop its professional talent and its knowledge management and AI capability. Each of these is a mark of ambition, and each raises the same leadership question as the firm grows: how does a firm make it easier for excellent professionals to deliver shared priorities while protecting the independent judgment that makes them excellent? A firm-wide decision involves executive leadership, practice heads, directors, associates and business services teams. Each carries a different responsibility, and the result depends on how those responsibilities connect. That is where Nosipho works. She helps leaders examine the distance between what has been agreed and what has to happen next: who understands the decision, who owns its implementation, where coordination is needed and what evidence will show progress before the final result arrives.
