About Kevin Lentin

Dr Kevin Lentin has spent 41 years in clinical practice in Cape Town, where roughly 35,000 people have walked into his rooms. Most came because something hurt. Many were also experiencing something harder to name: fatigue, poor sleep, digestive changes, recurring headaches, anxiety or declining function, while conventional tests remained inconclusive. That gap became his life’s work. Kevin calls it dis-ease: the period between health and diagnosable disease, when the body is already signalling but nothing has yet been formally named. His work is about helping people recognise those signals, understand what may be driving them upstream and intervene before the body has to shout. His approach is also defined by knowing when the answer lies outside his own discipline. Some of the strongest cases from his clinical career involve recognising a signal, referring the patient onward and allowing the appropriate specialist to take over.

Key message

Your body is constantly communicating with you. My work is about helping people recognise those signals, understand what may be driving them and what dis-ease means, and then intervene before the body has to shout.
